Quotes of Wisdom 8 Today is a New Day! Practice Compassion

wall poster.jpg

This hangs on the wall at the bottom of the stairs on the way to our garage (wall hanging from Ross).  We see it every morning reminding us to practice compassion for ourselves and others.

Each of the suggestions are rooted in compassion.  Practicing compassion can change the world!

Sometimes I like to contemplate definitions. Am I weird?

Compassion

Merriam-Webster: sympathetic consciousness of others’ distress together with a desire to alleviate it.

Dictionary.com:  a feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who is  stricken by misfortune,   accompanied by a strong desire to alleviate the suffering.

Synonyms:  commiseration, mercy, tenderness, heart, clemency, benevolence, empathy, grace, humanity, kindness, mercy, sorrow, sympathy, tenderness, charity, clemency, commiseration, compunction, condolence, consideration, heart, humaneness, lenity, softheartedness, softness, tenderheartedness

Sometimes being kind to others is easier than being kind to ourselves.  We can be awfully hard on ourselves.

How will you bring compassion into your day?  For yourself and for others?

Thank you for visiting! As always, feel free to like, share, comment, reblog or follow as your heart or mind desires.  It’s always nice to know you’ve been here 😉

Namaste

*Quotes of Wisdom is a Friday at 2p (Pacific Time Zone) series offering Wisdom, Feel Good, Inspirational and Thought-provoking Quotes.  Sometimes with links and most likely, with too many thoughts of my own included.

*featured photo taken in my mom’s garden – I chose to take this photo without “staging” or editing. The fallen leaves and shadows cast are elements representing the time of year – Autumn – in which I took the photo.  There are other emotional connections that I suspect will come to full consciousness in My Mother’s Dry Garden.  I can feel it but do not have the words, yet, the drip system being a key element.
